VIGRE Graduate Fellowships

The UW Departments of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Statistics are currently supported by a five-year, $2.7 million dollar grant from the National Science Foundation's VIGRE (Vertical Integration Grants for Research and Education) program.  Its purpose is to integrate the various approaches to applied and computational mathematical sciences being pursued in the participating departments, and to provide a better and more integrated learning environment for students at all levels, undergraduate through postdoctoral.

The VIGRE grant supports graduate students through  VIGRE Graduate Fellowships. Each year several VIGRE fellowships will be awarded to especially promising PhD students in each of the three participating departments. These fellowships are one  year in duration and provide two academic quarters and a summer of support without teaching duties.  Applications are due in early May. VIGRE Fellows are selected by the Graduate Program Committee at the end of Spring Quarter of each year.
