MINUTES
The regular meeting of the faculty of the Department of Mathematics was held in C-38 Padelford Hall at 3:30pm,
January 28, 2020. John Palmieri, Chair, presided at the meeting. Rose Choi was recording secretary.
The meeting began with approval of the previous meeting’s minutes.
Chair's Remarks
The Department of Statistics has hired an external candidate from UC Santa Cruz to serve as their new department chair.
The CAS Divisional Dean will be going on sabbatical next year. Nominations for a replacement should be addressed to Bob Stacey.
The new postdoc contract specifies that they will no longer be classified as faculty. Therefore, protocols for renewals, etc. will be updated in accordance with this new designation.
Announcements
Jim Morrow announced that Mathday 2020 will take place on Monday, March 23rd. Lots of volunteers are required to help with the anticipated 1,700 high school participants. Please contact Jim if you’d like to volunteer, and help spread the word by sharing this info with your students. No math background is required.
