Surviving and Thriving in the First Year of Grad School

Sara Billey, Max Lieblich, Kevin Liu (and likely a few more)
Thursday, April 27, 2023 - 4:00pm to 6:30pm
PDL C-38
We have survived three challenging years, but there are signs of hope for the spring and the coming year.  We want to support you as you navigate through the whole phd program, particularly this first year.    This year is about digging deeply into some core mathematics, working hard on homework, fine tuning your mathematical writing skills, meeting new people, and developing some connections.  Now that you have been here for a while, we would like to check in and have a discussion about how it's going.   We hope to talk about what strategies are working for you, share some tips for the next steps in your transition toward being a professional mathematician, and answer questions that have come up.
Please join us for a group discussion with time for questions and student input.   Then, all are invited to walk together to U. Village for dinner paid for by the department.
Hosted by Sara Billey, Max Lieblich an Kevin Liu.
