Graders
Beginning Autumn 2024, all Math hourly graders will be paid at a single hourly rate. The current rate is $22.65 (effective 7/1/2025 per the ASE contract). Graders are contracted, on a quarterly basis, for a set number of hours' worth of grading per quarter. Each grader is informed of this number when the position is offered at the start of the quarter.
The above hourly rate will be increased as necessary per ASE contract requirements, minimum wage increases, or departmental decision.
Math Study Center (MSC) Tutors
MSC Tutors are hired on a quarterly basis. In the MSC, there are standard Tutors and Lead Tutors, who have additional duties. All Tutors and Lead Tutors are paid an equal hourly rate, depending on title. The current rates are $22.65/hour for Tutors, and $24.15/hour for Lead Tutors, effective 7/1/25. The hourly rate changes when:
- Increases are mandated by the ASE contract (generally July 1)
- The Department of Mathematics determines that a market rate increase for tutors is warranted
Undergraduate TAs
Undergraduate TA appointments are on a quarterly basis during the academic year. Undergraduate TA rates receive a 3% increase every year in July, or as required as covered under the ASE contract. Current rate is $22.65/hour (2025-26 only).
