Edward Curtis (1933-2024)

Edward Curtis, Emeritus Professor of Mathematics, passed away on April 2, 2024, at the age of 91. He was a member of the University of Washington mathematics department from 1970 onward, and was a distinguished researcher in algebraic topology, and subsequently on graph theory and flow networks. In 1972, he received the Leroy Steele Prize of the American Mathematical Society in recognition of his paper "Simplicial Homotopy Theory", published in the Advances of Mathematics. He was also a recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship. With fellow UW mathematics professor Jim Morrow, he coauthored the seminal work "Inverse Problems for Electrical Networks".
