Soham Ghosh receives Simons Dissertation Award

Submitted by Rose Choi on

UW Mathematics PhD student Soham Ghosh has been selected to be part of the first class of Simons Dissertation Fellows in mathematics. These fellowships provide research support to exceptional graduate students in mathematics. This award recognizes the excellence of Ghosh's research, which includes his recent resolution of the Casas-Alvero conjecture, a problem posed by Eduardo Casas-Alvero about polynomials which have factors in common with their derivatives, and which has been open since 2001. Ghosh is co-advised by Max Lieblich and Farbod Shokrieh.
