UW Mathematics graduate students Cameron Wright and Alexander Wang helped lead the Park City Experimental Mathematics Lab (PCXML) at the Park City Mathematics Institute (PCMI) in Summer 2025. PCMI, an initiative of the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS), brings together members of the mathematics community at all levels for three weeks in the summer in Park City, Utah. Cameron and Alex guided undergraduate students through the experience of working on open-ended problems in combinatorics and related fields, and coordinated with the faculty in PCMI Undergraduate Summer School. PCMI has a long tradition of UW involvement: UW Emeritus Professor Jim King was an important early leader for PCMI, in particular in establishing PCMI's programming targeted at high school mathematics teachers. The PCXML was founded by UW Professor Jayadev Athreya, who is a member of the PCMI steering committee, and has been led previously by UW Math PhD alums Samantha Fairchild, Albert Artiles, and Paige Helms. PCMI Director Rafe Mazzeo was also a UW Mathematics faculty member.
