Thank you for your interest in the Undergraduate Mathematics Program. The following information is intended for students planning to transfer from another university/college to the University of Washington-Seattle to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics.
Key Dates & Deadlines
Transfer applicants whose intended major is Mathematics must first apply and be admitted to the University of Washington - Seattle before submitting a Math Major application.
Perquisites & Course Equivalencies
Perquisites
Plan to have the math major prerequisites (MATH 124, 125, and 126) completed prior to the quarter you plan to apply to the math major. If perquisites will be in-progress at time you enter UW, you will need to postpone your math application.
AP / IB Exams for Credit
If you have taken an Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus exam or an International Baccalaureate (IB) Mathematics exam, please refer to the Exams for Credit webpage for information about exam polices and UW course equivalencies - https://admit.washington.edu/apply/transfer/exams-for-credit/ .
Course Equivalencies
Students transferring from a Washington State community or technical college (CTC) can reference the UW Equivalency Guide to find out how courses will transfer to the University of Washington - https://admit.washington.edu/apply/transfer/equivalency-guide/.
If coursework has been completed at a non-WA CTC, students can get a sense of how math courses might transfer to UW - Seattle by comparing courses to the UW course catalog - https://www.washington.edu/students/crscat/math.html. Admitted transfer students should contact the Math/ACMS Advising Office to have their math courses formally evaluated.
