Quick turnaround assignments are those that a student has one week or less to complete (including holidays and weekends). This timeline begins when the student has access to all components necessary to start the assignment.
In courses with weekly homework, you should release assignments at least eight days prior to the due date and be mindful of your lecture schedule. If an assignment due Thursday contains material that you don’t lecture on until Monday of the same week, a student may consider the lecture one of the “components necessary to start the assignment” and their DRS Access Coordinator may agree. You may want to give the student an extension on part of the assignment rather than the whole thing to prevent them from falling behind.
You and the student should agree on a plan in writing at the beginning of the quarter. The plan can be re-evaluated mid-quarter if necessary.
If your course includes components completed in class (including polls and group activities), instructor and student should agree to a plan with assistance from DRS if necessary for how these will be collected and graded. This may include replacing this component of the course with an alternative assessment for this student.
