A graduation plan helps you visualize your path to completing your degree(s) and make informed choices. It's not a contract but instead it's a flexible tool to guide your decisions. Students who are declaring the Math major, or current Math majors who are intending to double major/double degree, are required to create a graduation plan in MyPlan.
What should your plan include?
- Enough credits to meet degree requirements (180 minimum; 225 for double degrees)
- All major courses with specific course numbers (e.g. MATH 402, instead of "MATH elective")
- A balanced schedule. Avoid more than two math courses in one quarter
- At least one math course per quarter (except summer)
- Meets the University's Academic Satisfactory Progress Policy (https://registrar.washington.edu/register/policies-procedures/) and the departmental Continuation Policy (https://math.washington.edu/continuation-and-honesty-policy)_.
Questions to ask yourself:
- Do I understand prerequisites for upper-level courses?
- When are key courses offered? Annual Course Overview
- How will I fit in general education and W-courses?

Using MyPlan:
- Go to https://myplan.uw.edu/home/ and select My Academic Year.
- Add courses to each quarter you you plan to enroll based on the criteria listed above.
- To add courses in a future academic year, click the Next navigation arrow located to the far right, under the purple leaderboard banner.
- Run a Plan Audit* (also referred to as Audit Plan).
MyPlan Privacy Settings must be set to Shared with UW advisers. To change settings, click your account profile found in the upper-right hand corner of the MyPlan page and scroll to MyPlan Privacy Settings.
Degree Audit vs Plan Audit: A Degree Audit will only include all completed and registered classes that appear in My Academic Year, whereas a Plan Audit includes all "PLANNED" coursework in addition to completed and registered classes.
Be aware the Plan Audit has limitations:
> will not run if there are no "PLANNED" courses listed
> can't confirm if a course will or will not be offered during a specific quarter
> unable to recognize W-courses, backup courses, course placeholders (i.e. STAT 3XX, "Elective", "Gen Ed Req-: A&H", etc.)
> typically doesn't include in-progress or planned course credits once the student has reached 180 credits, unless formally delcared a double degree student who must complete a minimum of 225 credits to graduate.
