On July 24, at the opening of the 2nd Mathematical Congress of the Americas in Montreal, Gunther Uhlmann was awarded the Solomon Lefschetz Medal by the Mathematical Council of the Americas. He received the medal in recognition of his excellence in research and his remarkable contributions to the development of mathematics in the Americas.
