Basic concepts of abstract algebra with an emphasis on problem solving, constructing proofs, and communication of mathematical ideas. Cannot be taken for credit if credit received for MATH 402 or MATH 403. Prerequisite: a minimum grade of 2.0 in MATH 411. Offered: WS.
