MINUTES
The regular meeting of the faculty of the Department of Mathematics was held in C-36 Padelford Hall at 3:30 PM, December 5, 2017. Ron Irving, Chair, presided at the meeting. Rose Choi was recording secretary.
Chair’s Announcements
Professor Irving reminded faculty that teaching request forms for 300 & 400 level courses along with honors teaching will need to be submitted by next week. He also reminded faculty of the new University policy (as of this Fall) wherein classes must be spread out throughout the day so as not to condense them to the prime hours.
Internal Chair Search Committee
The search will take place in the spring before the last term. The next chair will be taking over budget uncertainties and impending faculty retirements. The first external committee meeting will be on January 11th. An internal proposal with shortlisted candidates will be shared with the Dean before this meeting.
Appointments Committee
At present, 516 files have been received and a preliminary shortlist has been made of the top 25 candidates.

There being no new business, the meeting passed into executive session at 4:08pm.
