This discussion will address mental health as a key issue impacting UW students (in particular, graduate students in mathematics). Facilitated by Megan Kennedy, this workshop aims to address stigma associated with mental health, provide tips on how to support a friend, and provide information about campus-based resources. Megan will provide data regarding student mental health, skill-building tips, and time for an open discussion. We will:
- Discuss mental health as a factor that impacts student success, and its unique impacts on graduate students.
- Develop skills to support peers in a caring and appropriate way, including learning when and how to refer.
- Learn what mental health resources are available for graduate students on campus.
