Graduate travel funds
Professor Novik directed faculty to the department’s website on graduate travel funding at https://math.washington.edu/travel-funding. She advised that if students are attending a conference to first tap into individual faculty grants before requesting funds from the department. The maximum request is for $750 per student. If they are giving a talk they may also request funds from the graduate school. These funds must be requested at least 3 months in advance with proof of presentation to the GPC. Please refer to the graduate school’s website for details and deadlines.
Professor Tuncel reminded faculty of the two upcoming deadlines for applicants to the AP and AAP positions. Faculty will have access to review files only after the deadlines per the advice of the Divisional Dean. The review methods will be similar to the previous year and the committee will plan to sort applicants within two weeks after the first deadline. The goal is for Skype interviews to be scheduled during exam week.
There being no new business, the meeting passed into executive session at 3:48pm.
