Abstract:

A basic task in computer vision is to reconstruct 3-dimensional scenes from camera images. This problem can be modeled using (real) algebraic geometry. The answers draw on multiple fields such as combinatorics, classical invariant theory and classical algebraic geometry. This talk is an overview of some recent results around the reconstruction problem.

Note: This talk begins with a pre-seminar (aimed at graduate students) at 4:00–4:30. The main talk starts at 4:40.
