Title: Diophantine Equations - from Diophantus to Faltings and Wiles (via Fermat, Mordell, …)

Abstract: Equations always held a fascination for mathematicians. A surprisingly rich world arise when one seeks integer or rational solutions to equations with rational coefficients (so called Diophantine Equations). I’ll describe how these equations got their name, how they pop up in cornerstones of mathematics, and how they still keep most of their secrets hidden.
