This talk is about transitioning into research and thesis writing. We encourage everyone to come, regardless of where they are in the program, but the talk is aimed at folks who have recently finished prelim exams. Faculty and advanced grad students are encouraged to come share their advice too. Some topics we will cover are:
- How to find an advisor
- What are good research habits to practice
- How to deal with failure in research
- How to prepare for the remaining program requirements like the General Exam and Dissertation after prelims.
- Tailoring your educational path for your future career interests.
