In this talk, we will discuss connections between optimal control and optimal mass transport. We will review the Monge, Kantorovich, and Brenier-Benamou formulations of optimal transport, as well as stochastic optimal control. Various connections between the two fields have been proposed in the literature, and this talk will examine recent work on formulating the notion of density control of dynamical systems as a mass transport problem. The talk will conclude with a discussion on applications relating to deploying swarms, and controlling networked dynamical systems.
