Algebraic Geometry Student's Seminar : Introduction to Descent Theory

The word "descent" refers to a number of results which are an important part of the modern algebraic geometer's toolkit. We will develop the context for these results and prove one such descent theorem, as well as giving a broad overview of the utility of descent theory.
