The phrase "Torelli theorem" roughly refers to results demonstrating that cohomological invariants determine the objects in the underlying geometric category. In this talk, we will give an overview of one such theorem in the derived setting for K3 surfaces in characteristic 0 developed primarily by the work of Mukai and Orlov. Time permitting, we will also discuss recent generalizations of these results to positive characteristic by Lieblich and Olsson.
